Here we have a rare vintage 1937 Sparton Deluxe model 537 midnight blue mirror table radio. This hard-to-find radio is a stunner. An Art Deco dream radio, it was designed by Walter Dorwin Teague for the Sparks-Worthington Company of Jackson, Michigan. 1936. The radio, known as the "sled" is considered to be one of the best examples of Art Deco Streamline style. The radio features cobalt blue mirrors on the front, top, and left side, with contrasting ebony lacquer finish and 5 chromed bands or "speed lines". Feel free to give us a call. The mirrors are crack and chip free with some age-crazing to the silvering. This blue mirror set is clean inside and out. It has not been restored. I tested it with our Variac, bringing it up slowly so as not to damage anything. It powers on and hums. I didn't catch any channels and the dial did not light up. It measures 17 1/4" wide x 8 7/8" tall x 8 1/2" deep (including the knobs). I notice that there is some wood lifting on the right side between the chrome louvers (see pictures).
